I think I'm turning Japanese....

Senior Interior Designer, Katherine Bennett has just returned from Japan. These are a few of her favourite things:

Wide open space and happy poppies in heart of bustling Tokyo.

Paper cranes and high speed trains.

Tranquillity. Manicuring moss so peaceful and quiet.

Small Japanese delicacies each in their own distinctive dish.

This building by Toyo Ito took my breath away.

Timber construction, sturdy, inviting and awe inspiring.

Vibrant red fabrics on contrasting stone figures.

Space Dinner: Inside Studio Castiglioni

Nexus Designs enjoyed an intimate dinner at the Space showroom recently with special guest Giovanna Castiglioni. Giovanna and her husband Sergio presented the work of her late father, Achille Castiglioni - the legendary Italian industrial designer - offering an engaging personal insight into his Studio and famous designs.

Etoile Nasrallah, Sonia Simpfendorfer, Giovanni Castiglioni, Harley Anstee, Jon Holland, Bethanie Ereaut

Giovanna discussed the challenges of maintaining Achille's Milan studio and keeping it open to the public. The charismatic Giovanna told us the stories behind the iconic furniture and lighting, and what it was like to grow up with such a playful and quirky father. She spoke directly, humbly and from the heart. We could have stayed all night!
