10 KEY TIPS FOR CREATING GREAT CONTEMPORARY INTERIORS

Tip 10: Artwork

A group of small artworks can be as powerful and interesting as one large one. Sculptural pieces can add height and definition to horizontal planes. A large artwork needs space around it, a small one can sit low over a table.

Tip 9: Will it fit?

For us, the floor plan and furniture layout is where we start. We need to know that we can make a space work well, long before looking at the detail of the colour palette, finishes, fittings, fixtures and furniture. A good plan just looks right and is simple and clean.

Tip 8: Take a seat

Good furniture lasts. One of our favourite clients bought a classic sofa when they were engaged in their twenties and with some careful recovering and restuffing over time it is still going strong and now they’re in their eighties! Just think of all the landfill they haven’t produced over six decades of sitting comfortably.

TOUCH THE SKY

Check us out in the latest winter issue of Ocean Road Magazine.  We transformed this sky high sub-penthouse in Broadbeach through introducing the right mix of contemporary Australian artwork with local and international furniture.  Queensland high rise living has never looked so good!

Tip 7: Colour

Colour is such an easy way to make people feel good but sometimes a little bravery is required. It’s not about feature walls in fashion colours – it could be a brilliant blue front door or a single red window frame in a white country house. Books, artworks and furniture also bring colour and life to an interior.

Tip 6: If it feels good

Fabric offers an endless diversity of colour, pattern and texture and can introduce warmth and individuality to spaces.  It's the icing on the cake, so enjoy it!
